Pershore IV 31 pts, Stourport 7

WITH the weather and pitch conclusive to open rugby both teams opted to play expansive rugby and the small collection of supporters from both sides were treated to a good afternoon's entertainment.

Pershore had the slightly better pack and the edge they were able to establish was the factor that saw the backs able to attack from all phases of play.

In particular, Alex Jammell was outstanding at fly half calling all the plays and switching angles of attack at every opportunity.

Geoff Bucknall leading the team again this year was the pick of the forwards and he was able to have several incisive runs.

The second half saw the visitors come back into the game and put Pershore under some pressure for a period of the half and this was a factor in their well deserved and well worked try.

The game ended with teams going from end to end and with supporters shouting and cheering the high standard of rugby played.

Try scorers for Pershore were Geoff Bucknall, Andy Stewart, Alex Jammell (2), Matthew Stanway, with the latter and Sam Cook converting three of the tries.
