Civil Service Retirement Fellowship: The Evesham Group of the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship met in the function room of the Library in Oat Street on September 12.

Mrs Anne Innes, Chair, welcomed all present, including two prospective new members, Mrs Margaret Pye and Mrs Dorothy Mawer and also briefly referring to the Bring & Buy event to be held in November, she introduced the speaker, Mrs Dorothy Warner. There followed a most interesting and illuminating talk on the role she had played as Development Manager at the Malvern Theatre, in raising sufficient funds to cover the cost of completely refurbishing and extending the scope of events which take place in the three main entertaining areas - The Festival Theatre, the Forum Theatre and the Cinema. Malvern now attracts major stars of the acting profession and high profile musicians, and everyone connected with the Theatres is justly proud that ticket sales cover the majority of costs. Many Group members are regular supporters of the Malvern Theatres and the talk finished with a good question and answer session. The Group will next meet in the library on October 10, when Mark Develin, a BBC Reporter, will give a talk on "Communications".
