PARISH COUNCIL: At the recent meeting it was agreed that it was important to reinforce the rules that no dogs should be allowed on the Playing Field. It had been reported that dog owners regularly walked from the Pershore Road, through the Jubilee Field. New signs for this footpath were requested. Also on the subject of the playing field, it was agreed that a working party should meet to re-seed an area damaged during the recent building programme. County Councillor Mr Hardman said he had nothing further to report about the threatened communication masts, and in fact Wychavon had become suspiciously quiet on the subject. Sir Michael Spicer MP had said he would be in favour of one fifteen metre mast for all the companies to use, and it was generally agreed that the siting of such a mast was crucial and that there was a need for some definite proposals. A letter was received from a resident who is confined to a wheelchair complaining about the general state of the footpaths, the lack of access points to them and the lack of concern of drivers. There was, she said, a great need for a safe crossing point for the elderly and for those with poor sight. The Chairman, Mr Derrick Grainger, noted that the very narrow footpath opposite the Pottery might be a key place for a traffic calming chicane. He said that the footpath opposite might be narrowed in favour of widening the other for the sake of parents using pushchairs and shepherding toddlers.

SAVE THE CHILDREN: The recent 'Back Again' sale of nearly new clothes realised a profit of just over £550. The organiser would like to thank everyone who gave their support in any way.

PETROL CRISIS: Bredon Motors very soon ran dry, and we have all begun to realise how much we rely on our cars. Several parish councillors arrived at their monthly meeting on bikes, and others walked. Whilst we don't welcome shortages, perhaps we might benefit by using our legs more often and leaving the car in the garage.
