100 years ago - September 22, 1900
EVESHAM: John Walker-Stuart, a labourer, of West Street, was summoned for not sending his child regularly to school. Mr A J Turner, the school attendances officer, said that the child had attended 17 times out of a possible 30 and did not attend at all last week. Defendant said the child went regularly from the house to attend school and must have played truant. Fined 2s 6d.
75 years ago - September 26, 1925
ROBERT Croft, of Francis Road, Catterbridge, Birmingham was fined for fishing without a license in the Avon at Cleeve Prior on July 14. The defendant was fined 5s.
50 years ago - September 23, 1950
EVESHAM :A hypnotist from London caused great hilarity at the town hall. David Warner, convinced Maestro Johnny Taylor he was playing the piano at the Royal Albert Hall.

A SUGGESTION by Midland Red to cut down on the length of the journey it will be necessary to take when the ban on turning right into Waterside, Evesham, comes into effect, has been approved by Wychavon's finance committee.
