OWNERS of empty properties in the Cotswolds will have to pay rates on such premises from April 1. This was decided this week by the Cotswold district council by a large majority. Of the 32 members present, 10 declared an interest as being owners of property that could be let, and took no part in the discussion or voting. It is estimated that the rating of empty properties could bring in an extra £12,000 a year.
