A STEAM rally held in Hanbury at the weekend was described as the best ever despite the fuel shortage.
The two-day event at the Vernon Arms pub, in Droitwich Road, attracted more than 2,000 people.
Exhibits included steam engines, wagons, classic cars and military vehicles.
There were also market stalls, dog displays and a Viking history re-enactment.
Organiser Keith Shakespeare feared the event could have flopped because of the petrol crisis.
But Hanbury Service Station, based opposite the Vernon Arms, reserved fuel for exhibitors so they could return home safely.
Keith said: "The event was a wonderful success but could not have gone ahead if the service station had not stepped in to help.
"I think it was the best show to date. I'm already looking forward to the event next year."
