Robert Johnson, the chairman of Evesham's Chamber of Commerce, is joining a mercy mission to Bosnia and is appealing for sponsorship.
Robert will join a convoy of 20 Land Rovers heading to the war-torn state on October 11. They will deliver basic essentials for survival and emergency medical supplies.
"An appeal was made to the Land Rover Owner Adventure Club for volunteers to raise sponsorship for emergency aid and to deliver it," said Robert.
"I have never done anything like this before and am a bit scared, but we will have a military escort through Bosnia which is a relief. Apparently there are about 20,000 unexploded land mines in the area."
Volunteers will meet up at Dover, travel through France, over the Alps, on to Croatia, then on to Bosnia.
The Red Cross appealed to the Land Rovers Club for help because the members' vehicles can tackle the remote mountainous route.
Robert said: "There are a lot of villages that nobody has been able to get to on mountain tracks.
"I will be taking clothes, which have already been donated, pain killers, pens and paper, false limbs for land mine victims, and dental supplies. I need to raise £3,000 to cover the cost of buying them," he added.
Robert will be accompanied by his friend Terry Pommeroy, from Stratford, who has mechanical expertise, but will be parted from his fiance Kate Lovett for the week-long journey.
Those willing to help should contact Robert on 01386 761515.
