A HARD hitting road show aimed at improving driver behaviour rolled up at Evesham's Market Square on Monday.

Worcestershire County Council's road safety team joined forces with West Mercia police to launch the campaign to encourage motorists to drive with more care.

The road safety team's message focused around the slogan "Don't be a Dummy", and featured hard-hitting video footage and a crash test dummy to get the point across.

The campaign reinforced the dangers of drinking and driving and tiredness on long journeys.

It also brought home to drivers that good vision is vital for safer driving and recommended an eye test every two years.

County road safety officer Roger Woodward said: "We were in Evesham for two days on Monday and Tuesday and it was very worthwhile.

"We chatted to the public about safety issues and explained that some bad behaviour starts even before drivers get into the car," he added.

The road show had planned to tour towns in Worcestershire, but the two visits to Redditch last Friday and Saturday had to be cancelled because of the fuel shortage. Anyone who would like an information pack on road safety is urged to contact Mr Woodward on 01905 766757.
