CENTRAL Trains have waited for a road fuel crisis to implement parking charges at Kidderminster Station.

The new charges will add almost 20 per cent to the cost of a Kidderminster-Birmingham peak journey from this week, and in many instances will alter the balance in favour of travelling by car for all or part of the journey.

This appears contrary to Government policy favouring a move towards increased use of public transport, especially when applied at a station with a large catchment area where access to the station is often necessarily achieved by use of private car.
