FUEL shortages did not deter visitors who flocked to the Ashton-Under-Hill village fete and produce show last Saturday with 480 entrants vying for the many trophies on offer in classes including vegetables, fruit and flowers.
Kate Archer won the Eileen Mills trophy for the most points gained in the show and Roger Umplebee scooped the challenge cup. One of the organisers, Doreen Cope, said: "The sun was shining, there was a fairground organ and we had a wonderful day rounded off with a barn dance."
