A CAR crash was caused by a mobile phone falling to the floor and the driver reaching for it, magistrates were told this week.

Carpet worker Karen Randall, 32, of Albert Road, Kidderminster, was bailed for a pre-sentence report when she admitted driving with three times the permitted alcohol level.

A blood sample, taken in hospital, gave a reading of 248, against the legal limit of 80, said prosecutor Stephen Harris.

Randall was banned from driving until she appears in court again next month.
