"OUT of control" children could be to blame for a string of vandalism attacks on a Worcester estate, a victim has claimed.

Alan Whitworth, who is registered disabled, says his car windows have been smashed and his tyres slashed.

And Mr Whitworth, who lives in Drake Avenue, Dines Green, says his neighbours have also suffered vandalism and had their cars broken into.

"There are a lot of unruly children around here," said Mr Whitworth, who is married with three step-children.

"A lot of younger kids are totally out of control. They're only about 10 years old but they're out until 10.30 at night.

"These days parents can't do anything to stop them.

"The area's going downhill."

Mr Whitworth said he suspected children had damaged his car.

In February this year, the windows were smashed with a brick. Neighbours' cars were also targeted.

And this month, he woke up one morning to find all four tyres on his Peugeot 309 had been slashed.

"I was horrified to think it was kids who could have done this, especially if they were carrying something sharp with them," he said.

Mr Whitworth said he was fortunate to be on a day off from work and as it was pay-day he was able to have the car seen to immediately.

The 29-year-old, who works for Cosworth Castings, in Wainwright Road, Blackpole, said he had even wondered if someone was waging a vendetta against him.

"I grew up in Dines Green. I did move away, but I'm back now," he added.

"I don't think I've got any enemies. It's left me a bit suspicious of people these days - you don't know what you're going to wake up to."

A Worcester Police spokeswoman said the incidents were being investigated.
