KIND-HEARTED celebrities and golfers clubbed together at a charity tournament in Bromsgrove to raise £10,000 for the Primrose Hospice.

On Sunday the John Lowe and Frank Worthington Celebrity Golf Tournament was staged at Bromsgrove Golf Club.

It was won by Droitwich Spa-based Fairfield Labels which scored 95 points to win the prestigious Advertiser/Messenger trophy.

The team's celebrity player was former world darts champion Keith Deller.

Coming a close second was Piccolinos Restaurant, in Leamington Spa, which scored 90 with help from British badminton coach Jason Garner.

Last year's winners, Bromsgrove's Spa Car Sales, joined by international jockey Carl Llewellyn, scooped third place with 80 points.

The fundraising event, in aid of the Finstall-based hospice and Cancer Help Centre, was followed by a gala dinner and cabaret at Birmingham's Forte Posthouse Hotel.

Former world darts champion John Lowe and ex-England footballer Frank Worthington enjoyed the day and presented prizes at the gala.

It is the fourth golf competition hosted by the charity and the event has so far raised £30,000 for the hospice which provides support for cancer patients, their families and carers.

Tournament organiser Des Blee said: "We have had fantastic feedback already from players who want to come back next year.

"A great time was had by all."
