HEADLESS Cross Ladies FC got their season off to a good start, winning two of their first three games.

Firstly Cross took on Aston Villa Veterans and came away with a good 3-2 victory, thanks to two goals from player of the match Beth Jarrett and one from Elaine Frampton.

Next Cross travelled to West Bromwich Albion, only to lose 2-0 in a tight match which was only decided late in the second half with Julie Whittle coming closest for Cross after hitting the crossbar from 20 yards. Player of the match on this occasion was Tina Waugh.

Another away match saw Headless Cross demolish Bromsgrove Rovers 11-0. Claire Maxwell scored two early on before further goals from Hayley Wootton, Gail Wright and Alison Johnson on her debut made it 5-0 at half-time. The second half was much the same with Melanie Potter scoring twice before Wright got her second and there were further goals from Tina Waugh, Julie Whittle and Beth Jarrett. Player of the match was Sharron Porter.

On a sad note the whole team would like to wish Nanette Kite all the best for a speedy recovery after breaking her collar bone in the match.

Headless Cross Ladies next play Bustleholme Ladies at Abbey Stadium.
