A CENTURY of life was celebrated at the weekend, as a Redditch lady marked her 100th birthday.
On Saturday Marie Jobson, a resident of Dorothy Terry House, in Evesham Road, Headless Cross, was joined by family and friends to mark the special occasion, and received a card from the Queen.
Mrs Jobson was born in the parish of Inkberrow and went into service at about the age of 14, working for many years in Birmingham.
After she married Herbert Jobson in the 30s, she moved to Astwood Bank where the couple brought up their children Horace and Kathleen.
She lived in the village for about 50 years before moving to the home.
Mrs Jobson also has five grandchildren and is a popular resident at the residential home.
Speaking before the celebration her son Horace Jobson said: "She's looking forward to her birthday and it should be a nice day if we can round up the family.
"She did have a fall and broke her hip but she's recovered as much as she's going to now and still has a very active mind.
"She doesn't miss much."
