A CARPENTER has been left struggling to support his family after "scum" ransacked his home.

Lee Merry, aged 28, was holidaying with his family at a cabin in Wales when their house in Worcester was broken into last weekend.

Tools valued at £1,000 were stolen, as well as electrical goods and personal belongings, valued at £3,000.

Mr Merry, who is self-employed, was enjoying a late summer break in Aberystwyth with wife Karon and daughters Leanne, aged five, and Jessica, three, when friends who had been looking after the house phoned him on Saturday morning to break the bad news.

"I would just want to kill those who did this," said the carpenter, of Humber Road, Ronkswood. "There I am trying to support my wife and two daughters and scum do this."

The patio doors were broken in and mud had been trampled through the house.

Mr Merry is unable to work as his tools were taken and he is hoping local builders may be able to help.

"I just hope anyone offered my tools will refuse and I can get them back," he said.

The tools taken included a Dewalt drill, a Bosch cordless masonry drill and a Ryobi chop saw.

"It is possible that someone may have seen something suspicious," said Worcester Police spokeswoman Vicki Davies.

She urged anyone with information to contact police on 01905 723888.
