WORCESTER speedway ace Brent Werner is preparing to take on the best in the world this weekend.
The 26-year-old has been selected for the United States team at the final of the World Team Cup in Coventry on Sunday, which will be televised live by Sky.
Werner, who rides for Workington in the Premier League, has been called up by the Americans after first-choice Ronnie Corry broke his wrist.
He is looking forward to the challenge against the top riders from England, Australia and Sweden, saying: "It is going to be tough as I haven't got a lot of experience of riding against these guys.
"But I have beaten that sort of quality a couple of times this year and things have been going really well for me this season. The bikes are going really well and I just need to go out there and make it happen."
The Californian, who settled in the city after marrying a local girl, is in his second season for Workington in the Premier League -- the second division of British speedway.
