A YOUNG drug addict was denied treatment because of a lack of funding, magistrates were told.
Kelli Hope was supposed to attend a residential detoxification and rehabilitation course following her convictions for theft.
But cash for the course was withdrawn shortly before it was due to begin, her defence solicitor Rod Hunt told Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.
"The sole reason for her offending is her drug addiction," said Mr Hunt.
"She has been in custody before and has been released, but never had any assistance."
Hope, aged 19, admitted stealing two child suits with a total value of £15 from Next in High Street, Worcester, on Wednesday, August 23.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing on Hope, of Cranham Drive, Warndon, Worcester, for reports and bailed her to return to the court on Friday, October 13.
