LANGLAND Sports continuing their run of good form with both teams gaining victories.

On Saturday Langland entertained a physical New Inn at Pershore team. The game started evenly but eventually Langland gained control through Gordon Mansell, Ben Fowler and Lee Hooper, who had an exceptional game for such a young player.

The chances created came thick and fast with Dean Drinkwater and Stu Harvey only being denied by the woodwork and some good goalkeeping. With New Inn always looking for the quick break they came across a confident defence with Tom Smith having a great game out of position and Mark Newman making a number of top class saves.

Second half saw Langland gain more and more possession after ten minutes, Lee Hooper caught a shot on the half volley from 25 yards that flew past the New Inn keeper.

Then within minutes it was 2-0 Steve Brooks getting on the score sheet with a strike in off the post.

Langland, pressing for a third, got their rewards ten minutes from time with a corner headed back by Stu Harvey to the near post for Gary Portman to score for a 3-0 scoreline.

The Sunday side had their first game of the Bernard Finnegan Cup against the Keyz 2000 side.

The game was a typical local derby played at furious pace and there was no score at half-time.

The early part of the second half was similar but with players tiring chances became available and Steve Brooks stamped his authority on the game with a bullet header from a superb Pete Brannelly corner.

Keyz had an opportunity to score five minutes later as they were awarded a penalty but it was missed.

Langlands keeper Mark Newman then punted the ball up field for an assist for Stu Harvey to head in past Paul Cecil who had played well making numerous saves for Keyz.

Keyz reduced the arrears when a defensive mix up let in Scott perks to score a well taken goal but Sports increased their lead with a great solo effort from substitute Ben Fowler and then a fourth through Stu Harvey.

Man of the Match was defender Mark White with a solid and stable performance for Langlands Sports.
