IN their first ever league game MLFC played host to RAF Lyneham in the Gloucestershire Women's League.

MALVERN LADIES FC 2, RAF LYNEHAM 1

In a goalless first half both sides defended well with chances missed at both ends.

At the start of the second half Malvern attacked straight from the whistle and in the 49th minute a shot from Sheri Medhill was parried by the visiting goalkeeper and Jenny Allen pounced to knock the ball into the net.

In the 70th minute Lyneham were awarded a penalty for handball, but the Malvern keeper saved brilliantly.

A headed clearance by the Lyneham defence fell to Rachel Tuffin who fired a shot into the corner of the goal in the 81st minute.

Minutes later, Lyneham had a second penalty for handball, which this time was converted.

Corrine Stogdon had an outstanding game in home defence.

The club would like to thank all the supporters for their encouragement and Anne and Reg at the Cross Keys for their after match hospitality and support of the team.

The next home game is on Sunday, October 1, against Gloucester City, 2.30pm kick off at Victoria Park.
