TOWN had the better of the first half of this Stourport League Under 16's fixture and coasted into a 2-0 lead.

MALVERN TOWN 3, WORCESTER CITY 3

Lee Hooper scored after five minutes taking a through pass from Will Murtagh and putting the ball wide of the City keeper. Goal number two was a 25 yard spectacular volley from Michael Cole.

Within ten minutes of the restart Town were 3-2 down due to a combination of defensive errors and good counter-attacking football from City. S Taylor for City latched onto two mistakes to score in the 41st and 47th minutes and then John Worman caught Town on the break to score number three.

Fortunately for Town they managed an equaliser when Peter O'Connell slipped the ball to Murtagh who ran through to score unchallenged.

NEWTOWN SPORTS 3, LITTLETON JUNIORS 1

NEWTOWN Sports started their Mercian Elgar Under 14's season with a home game against Littleton and with a revamped team won 3-1.

Newtown found themselves 1-0 down after 15 minutes when Newtown's goalkeeper Andy Cullen misjudged the bounce of the ball and the ball ended up in the net. Newtown were rewarded for their pressure when new signing Hans Magnus Johnsen equalised with a powerful drive from 18 yards.

Littleton started the second half well and keeper Andy Cullen made some fine stops. Newtown then took hold of the game and scored on 60 minutes when Matt Ball fired home from 20 yards. Newtown made the game safe when from a direct free kick skipper Jamie Plant scored from 25uards.

Newtown Man of the Match - Hans Johnsen.

Newtown are away at Suffolk Rangers, players to meet 1.30pm at ground or 2pm at Archdales FC.

MALVERN WANDERERS 1, BROCKHAMPTON BADGERS 0

MALVERN Wanderers opened their Mercian Elgar Under 12's League campaign with Brockhampton being the visitors.

The away team opened the stronger with their midfield taking early control but with goal scoring chances at a minimum. The latter part of the first half saw Wanderers finding their form and making their presence felt but for all their endeavour scores remained even at the interval.

With the slope in their favour Wanderers immediately took control in the second half and chances began to open up for them. In the 12th minute Chris Denslow started a fine move involving Stephen Poole and Shaun Carrey, who played a fine first time ball to Michael Dicapota to beat the oncoming keeper with confidence from 12 yards out on his debut.

A fine all round team performance combining in a sporting manner between the two sides with Chris Denslow just pipping many Wanderers players for Man of the Match.

NEWTOWN SPORTS 4, MICKLETON RANGERS4

NEWTOWN Sports Under 12's started the season in a typical Jeckyl and Hyde fashion and after gong 1-0 down in the opening six minutes they fought back and at one stage went 4-1 in front.

There were good first half performances by Ollie Howard who scored once and David Reynolds (2) whose first half display was outstanding. Lee Jenkins also played well in the opening 30 minutes and hit the post as well as being unlucky on another occasion.

Manager Chris Ball changed the side in the second half and after seemingly cruising to victory saw his side concede three goals, one goal via a penalty.

Edward Lumb scored Newtown's fourth with a low shot after Tom Ferguson had hit the ball into the visitor's penalty area. Both Craig Philpotts and Matthew Lakey deserve a mention for their sound performances at the back.

Man of the Match - David Reynolds for his first half contribution.
