UPTON, playing their second game in the Worcester Sunday Premier Division, started poorly in this clash with last season's promoted Division One winners.

GPO took a shock lead when a free kick travelled under the wall and gave keeper Gary Baldwin no chance. Towards the end of the first half Upton began to play with some purpose and got awarded a penalty after 40 minutes, this was well converted by Jamie Roberts.

However, this wasn't the half time score as Sports pushed for a lead and got it when Lee Watts slipped a ball into the path of the non-stop running Mark Phelps who finished coolly.

Upton were lucky to be leading 2-1 at half time, but after the break they came out more like the team who gained a 2-2 draw with Archdales last week. Roberts added another three to finish with four for the match and Watts scored two piledrivers to put the match safe.

There was strong performances defensively by Williams, Jones and Neil Roberts.
