AS a recent visitor from Perth, Western Australia, visiting the picturesque town of Ledbury and admiring the breathtaking beauty of Herefordshire, I felt I had to write to express my amazement at the appalling amount of dog fouling of pavements and pathways.

It really does detract one from a delightful walk in either the town or the lovely surrounding country that one has to ground-watch and walk so carefully in order to avoid the very unpleasant experience of walking into dog excreta.

Surely the residents of Ledbury appreciate the environment in which they are most fortunate to live, and could demonstrate a little more consideration in the preservation of its beauty and clear up after their dog.

Has no dog owner ever heard of poop-and-scoop?
