AFTER the previous weekend's poor display at Martley, Radar were unfortunate not to get anything from this game at Lower Howsell Road against last season's second placed Perrywood.

MALVERN RADAR 1, PERRYWOOD 3

There was a bit of re-shuffling in the ranks with Mark Taylor introduced up front and he was soon in action stinging Wood keeper Craig Gourley's hand with a rocket shot for the edge of the box which was well saved.

It was fairly even in the first half and Jon Fowles should have equalised only to miss-kick in front of an open goal. Taylor opened the scoring after half an hour when he met Dave Cooper's near post corner to score with a well placed shot.

Radar lost Darren Loader with a nasty facial injury after a bump in the area and Wood drew level in the 42nd minute when a long throw found Ian Townsend and his looping header ended up in the corner of the net.

The second half was rather scrappy with chances few and far between and the turning point came with just 14 minutes left. Greg Press cut in from the left for Perrywood and tangled in the box with Radar skipper Derrick Brown and in spite of no real appeals, the ref awarded a penalty, which Jon Collett converted.

With Radar pushing forward Fowles completed the scoring in the final minute showing neat control and finishing well from ten yards.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Radar entertain Inkberrow at Lower Howsell Road, meet 2.15pm.

The Sunday side went down 3-0 against St George's Sports with Saints showing how to finish with some well taken goals. John Rooney went closest for Radar only to head wide when well placed.

This Sunday, Radar are at home to Ivy Cottage in the Infirmary Cup, team to meet at Victoria Park at 9.45am.
