I WAS pleased to see your article on the road safety measures put in place outside Eldersfield Lawn School, but for the headmistress to pre-empt the situation and blame the through traffic for any unfortunate accident which may occur is wrong.

I travel this road three times a week at the critical times of day and am appalled at the actions of some parents.

They park on both sides of the road and unload their children into the middle of the road, from where many are left to find their own way into the school grounds.

They then stand behind their open car doors and chat to each other across the road, thus limiting the through traffic to single line and 5mph.

When Mr Davis says a police presence would be welcome, I suggest their presence be used to educate parents as well as monitoring the other traffic.
