AS the petrol crisis eased today (Friday), one unusual side-effect of recent days has been an almost total absence of crime in the north Cotswolds.
Police have been called to only a handful of incidents since Monday night as crooks have found themselves as short of petrol as the rest of us.
The Gloucestershire force itself has had few problems in attending call-outs. At the height of the shortage it limited its fuel to operational uses, but in the last 24 hours has been able to take advantage of fresh supplies allocated for essential users.
