MEMBERS of Malvern United Angling Association made their first outing of the season to the River Wye last Sunday, and found the river to be low and gin clear, this coupled with bright sunshine meant that bites would be hard to come by.

Jerry Thomas spotted a massive shoal of bleak in a swim near to the bridge and set about trying to catch them, despite constantly being pestered by minnows Jerry managed to land 6-4-0 of bleak which run big on the Wye. This was good enough to give him first place.

Ian Goddard chose a swim near to the pumping station and had similar trouble with minnows snapping up his stick float fished maggot hook bait, but a switch to casters gave him a few nice dace for 4-15-0 and second spot.

Richard Webster fished the block end feeder for 3-14-0, which was good enough for third place.

The next club contest is the Taylor Cup held on the River Severn this Sunday, (September 17) draw 7.15am, fish 8am-12.30pm.
