CONGRATULATIONS to Ian Gane of Colletts Green on his fine performance as the Professor in the Swan Theatre's production of Verdict by Agatha Christie, which was performed last week.

Ian gave a brilliant performance exhibiting many changes of mood. Trained at RADA, Ian pursued a career in the Army before taking up the post as Bursar at the Worcester College for the Blind. Now retired he is able to devote more time to the theatre, being a member of Malvern Theatre Players, the Swan resident amateur company, Malvern Singers and Powick Church Choir.

Last week Powick Parish Ramblers enjoyed two walks. The first was led by David Allen and began on the Old Hills, Callow End. Twenty people took part, which included two children and two dogs. Last Sunday afternoon - the hottest September day to date - the second walk took place. Again 20 people including two children and only one dog gathered at the Fox Inn, Bransford to follow paths in the Leigh & Bransford Parish. Powick Parish Footpaths Officer, Peter Harris led the walk which covered three and a half miles. Next Saturday another walk will start at 10am, meeting at Newland Common and will be led by Pat and Bill Ash.

Last Sunday morning the Family Service at St Peter's Church included infant baptism. Ruby Edwards of Pontypool was baptised and welcome into the church. Her family are employed at the hop yards and staying on Manor Farm. The service was led by the Rev David Nichol, the readings by Rita de Boer and prayers led by Meg Allsopp and Sally Linsey played the organ. Next Sunday there will only be Communion at 8am and no Morning Service. There is a United Bene-fice Evensong at 6.30pm.
