IN their final game of the season both teams fielded mixed sides and gave most players a bowl.
NEWLAND SUNDAY XI v WYRE PIDDLE
In an exciting game Newland batted first with lynchpin C Genever leading the way with 62 and with S Freeman (24) put on 82 for the first wicket.
A minor blip followed with the loss of three quick wickets when D Tenney produced a belligerent innings of 65no aided by Addison (22no) and Fredericks (11).
The innings closed at 206, Poole being the most successful bowler with 3-43.
Wyre's contribution was mainly scored by Squire (49), Poole (41) and Moore (69) and with both teams finding the light difficult it came down to a last over finish and with two balls left Moore hit the winning runs with Tenney (3-25) and Hinds (2-40) the most successful bowlers.
A game played with a superb spirit aided by the best tea of the season enjoyed by all.
