COMPANIES on the Enigma Business Park are signing up for a revived telephone link scheme to combat crime on the estate.

Around 16 firms on the Malvern Link site have already agreed to take part in the Business Link system.

Mark Glossop, co-ordinator of the Enigma Business Park Partnership, said: "It's a scheme that was started up a couple of years ago but which fell somewhat into disuse.

"If someone at a company which is part of the scheme sees something suspicious, they can phone up and leave a message, which is automatically relayed to the other firms in the scheme."

The partnership met last week to discuss further security measures.

Mr Glossop said: "We had representatives from the police, the community safety officer from Malvern Hills District Council and firms on the park, including the nightclub that is opening soon.

"The main thing is to have a co-ordinated effort so that we're all pulling together."

The next move is a survey which Mr Glossop will conduct, asking individual companies about their security precautions, so that the possibilities of pooling resources can be considered.

Last month, a company on Enigma Park lost computer equipment worth £5,000 in a burglary. Last year, a lorry laden with drink worth £20,000 was stolen.
