THE Rev Richard Rosoman may be getting to know Malvern but he is certainly no stranger to the Diocese of Worcester.

Mr Rosoman was instituted and inducted as the Vicar of Holy Trinity Church on Monday, by the Bishop of Worcester, the Rt Rev Dr Peter Selby, assisted by the Archdeacon of Worcester, the Ven Joy Tetley.

The service ended a period of more than a year without a vicar for the church, following the retirement of Rev Canon Peter Billingham last August.

Mr Rosoman was most recently Assistant Priest of Christ Church, Coseley, from where another former Vicar of Holy Trinity, Rev Ken Parry, came. He also worked with the Black Country Urban Industrial Mission.

Before that he was a curate at Cradley near Halesowen.

Married, to Louise, a business studies and economics teacher at Pershore High School, the couple have a son, Oliver, who is two next month.

"It's important to say I'm also Vicar of St James's, West Malvern, as well as Holy Trinity, and obviously one thing there is fundraising for the roof repairs," he said.

Born in Kidderminster, Mr Rosomandid not start attending church until his early 20s.

"Where as I knew about The Bible and the basics about the Christian faith, it never meant a lot to me until later on in life," he said.

"I've always been grateful I had a basic Christian upbringing, I think it's a valuable lesson for the Church. If we tell a little bit about the Christian faith at some point it will click."

Mr Rosoman will take the 8am Holy Communion service at Holy Trinity on Sunday. There will be a joint welcoming service at 10.30am at St James's.
