A WORCESTER beauty salon has been awarded an honour which has been compared to a Michelin star.

For the second year running Beautique, in Friar Street, has been granted Crown Salon status by French skincare specialists Guinot.

Only 50 UK salons out of 1,500 contenders are chosen each year by Guinot to receive the award.

Anita Cooper, who has owned Beautique for 17 years, says that she still feels passionate about the beauty business and enjoys every minute of her chosen career.

"We believe in keeping up with the current trends in the industry, but we also offer a wide range of classic beauty treatments," said Miss Cooper.

"Our therapists are regularly on courses to update themselves and refresh on skills and techniques."

The salon became subject to mystery shoppers and telephone calls as they were assessed by Guinot to make sure they offered the ultimate service.

It offers a number of pampering top-to-toe treatments, from reflexology to non-surgical facelifts, aromatherapy, waxing manicures and luxury pedicures.

Beautique employs seven therapists, including Miss Cooper, and a receptionist.

Joining the staff soon will be Fiona Earle, who is returning to the city following 10 years experience in the industry.
