LIGHT winds and hot sun greeted visitors to the Arden Club at Def-ford on Sunday.

Hosting it's annual Comet Open Competition, the club attracted 16 competitors from as far afield as Chester and Merthyr Tydfil as well as from other local clubs.

The first race was won by Steve Lemmon from the neighbouring Severn Club. A very close second was Henry Jaggers of Staunton Harold with John Edwards of Chester in third.

The second race followed a similar pattern only this time Evesham sailor Phil Hossell (Severn SC) achieved a respectable third place just a few seconds behind the winner and runner up Lemmon and Jaggers.

Race three saw the same names achieving success, only this time it was Edwards first, Jaggers second and Hossell third, leaving his fellow club mate Lemmon to pick up fourth place.

Overall success went to local sailor Lemmon, his two first places giving him the edge over Jaggers who came second.

Third place overall went to Edwards and fourth to Phil Hossell.
