TWO stars in the car is the only way to describe Bromsgrove pairing Nathan Crewe and Chris Clifford

The duo are celebrating after winning the 1400 class Heart of England Rally Championship at the famous Listers Woodpecker Rally last weekend.

And their excellent third place in the surrounding forests of Ludlow now leaves them in contention for the overall title, not to mention their push for the lead in the 1400 class of the Welsh Clubman Championship.

All this marks a dramatic rise in fortune for the pair, coming at only the second time of asking after finishing runners-up in their first campaign together last season.

Nathan said: "To go one better is brilliant.

"We've also managed to keep a 100 per cent record of finishing every stage, so we're really pleased."

Crewe and Clifford clinched the Advanced Auto-sport Technologies sponsored championship over two days in Ludlow on September 2 and 3.

On the first day they attacked from the start to achieve second in class until the last stage when they dropped to fifth after a suspension component broke.

With that repaired, the pair hit back the following day, climbing to third in the 1400 class to secure the title.

They can now look forward to round nine of the championship at Caerwent on September 24.
