WINGER Andy Bourne collected two tries as Stourport Rugby Club scored a 24-15 home victory over Bishop's Castle in the first round of Tetley Bitter Vase.
Stourport took an early lead with two Richard Dorrell penalties but the visitors hit back with a converted try.
A try from Bourne just before the break gave Stourport an 11-7 interval lead, and they extended their advantage in the second period with two more Dorrell penalties.
But Bishop's Castle got back into the game with an unconverted try followed by a penalty which brought them to within two points of their hosts.
However, as the half wore on Stourport began to dominate the scrum and the forwards eventually set up Bourne for his second try converted by Dorrell.
On Saturday Stourport open their leaue programme with a home game against Old Giffinians at Walshes Meadow, kick-off 3pm.
