SIXTIES Top of the Pops DJ David Jacobs and internationally acclaimed jazz singer Salena Jones will be helping celebrate the formal re-opening of the Lifford Hall in Broadway on Saturday, writes Pat Smith.

There's a whole day of celebrations planned for villagers which will culminate in a fund-raising jazz concert in the evening.

From 10am to 1.30pm the Lifford Hall will be open for visitors to browse around, enjoy free coffee and biscuits and find out about all the activities associated with the hall.

Organiser, Richard Prater said: "We had an open day earlier in the year, but hundreds of people still haven't been around the newly-refurbished building.

"There will be guided tours and an opportunity to find out about the 200 club, social membership and Lifford Lady, the village race horse.

"We will have to shut the hall at 1.30pm in order to set the scene for the night's entertainment, but we hope many villagers and visitors will support both events."

Both David Jacobs and Selena Jones visited the hall before its refurbishment and Richard is looking forward to showing them the £450,000 transformation of the Grade II listed hall, which was built by Lord Lifford nearly 100 years ago.

Richard said doors will be open at 6.45 for 7.30pm when the formal opening of the hall takes place followed by the concert.
