PC Mick Dickens, a fast response car driver will be plodding the beat next month for St John Ambulance.
PC Dickens, from Pershore, is embarking on a lone 60-mile trek around Worcestershire, starting from Evesham on October 16.
On his travels he will call in at stations in Evesham, Droitwich, Worcester, West Mercia Police headquarters at Hindlip and Pershore to rattle his tin. It's all part of the campaign backed by The Journal Series to raise £60,000 for a new ambulance for the Evesham branch of the charity.
PC Dickens, together with colleagues, has raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years, home and abroad, for different charities but this year he has a special incentive.
St John Ambulance volunteers need cash to replace their 25-year-old all-terrain ambulance and one of their members is his daughter Michelle.
PC Dickens said: "We see St John Ambulance volunteers all around the county and know what a good job they do.
"Their on-the-spot care and prompt action can be vital to accident victims before being taken to hospital."
His daughter Michelle, who is aiming to become a paramedic when she leaves school, is a sergeant cadet in the brigade.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Mr Dickens can contact him at Pershore police station on 01905 723888.
