MARK Roberson continued his good form for Stoke Works at Astwood Fishery in the Bluebell Pool Open with a pole, corn and meat catch of 23-7-0 of carp from peg two. Second place went to Ron Fowler (Weoley Castle WMC) 13-4-0 and third was Alan Hodgkins (Kateshill) 12-10-0.

In the annual British Telecom Invitation Challenge held at Elmdon Pool, John Hudson (Drum Diamond) finished in top spot with 62-5-0 of carp taken by pole fishing casters and pellets up in the water at peg 19.

Second place went to Graham Upton (Athol AC) from next door peg 18 with 40-10-0, third was Simon Spence (CSM) 32-6-0.

At Woodlands View the Affordable Open was won by Kevin Slade (AOK) with a corn and meat catch of 70-2-0 from Deans Pool at peg 47. Second was John Greenaway (Woodlands) 66-0-0 and third was Paul Foster (Fosters MG) 47-14-0.

Woodlands View was the setting for the Maver Masters 2000 on Wednesday with 88 angling trade matchmen lining the banks of all the pools.

This year's master, Paul Dicks, (Bristol Angling Centre) was long pole fishing corn and meat at High Pool peg 18 for 92-4-0 corn and meat at High Pool peg 18 for 92-4-0 of carp. His prizes were a crystal decanter, top of the range Maver pole and £300. Runner up Graham Rhodes (Brian Mellors Tackle) had 83-9-0 from Deans peg 42, third was Jim Edwards (Tim's Tackle) 78-9-0 from Arles peg 29.

At Moorlands Farm the Meadow and Moors Pools Open was won by John Mottershead (Trentside) by pole fishing corn and casters at Moors peg nine for 90-0-0. Second Mal Talbot (Kamasan) 78-6-0, third Dave Jordan (Fosters MG) 73-15-0.

The evening Moors Pool open saw Walsall's Dean Gilbert just miss the ton with 98-14-0 from peg 12, where he pole fished meat. Second was John Mottershead (Trentside) 85-4-0 and third went to Paul Cahill (Bartley Green) 74-14-0.

On Thursday the Civil Service Midlands Regional Qualifier for the CS National Championships was held on the Grand Union Canal at Knowle.

It was won by Alan Bartlam (Solihull) who was staked at peg 78 just up from the Black Boy Pub, where he pole fished double caster for two bream and a few roach for 7-4-8. Second, Paul Willmott (Birmingham) 5-0-0, third Martin McGinley (Birmingham) 3-9-8.

Moorlands Farm's Thursday Special Open was topped by Clive Munslow (Preston Innovations) from Bank Pool peg three with 40 pounds of corn fed carp and 45 pounds of caster fed chub and roach for a 85-9-0 total. Second Paul Cahill (Bartley Green) 71-5-0, third Brian Hill (Warley) 69-14-0.

Friday's Costcutter Open was a big scoring event for Lee Richards (Fosters Tipton) when he put together 175-3-0 of carp, pole fishing corn up in the water at Meadow Pool peg 12. Clive Munslow (Preston Innovations) missed the double by a wide margin with a second placed 94-14-0, third Bob Jones (Moorlands) 86-3-0.

Saturday saw the Moorlands Farm complex used for the 100 peg EEIBA Electrical Industries Charity Invitation Open, and it was that man again, Munslow (Preston Innovations) who took the trophy with a 70-10-0 catch of carp by pole fishing corn up in the water at Meadow Pool peg five.

Another Moorlands regular Bob Jones took the runners up spot with 65-4-0 from Bank peg 24, third Alan Tranter (West Bromwich) 62-14-0.

Lucas College Road Angling Club were at Kinwarton on the River Alne for its event and the clear conditions proved a hard nut to crack, with winner Derek Willis needing just three chub and a couple of roach taken with pole and casters at peg one for a first placed 4-0-0. Second Terry Tombs 1-8-0, third Mal Gittus 1-4-0.

Sunday saw Long Nuke AC on the River Alne at Kinwarton and it didn't fish any better than the previous day, with Weoley Castle angler George Hopkins pole fishing red maggots at peg 21 for three chub for a top catch 2-13-0. He was followed by Jim Pedley with 2-3-8, third place was shared by Don Perks and Pete May with 1-8-4.

The 100 AC were on the Staffs/Worcs Canal at Swindon for its Committee Cup contest, and Droitwich canal expert Rob Francis led the way with a pole and squat catch of roach and gudgeon for 5-12-8 from five pegs below the green pipe.

John Lillycrap was in the short pound above Swindon Bridge for his second placed catch 5-5-0 of hemp fed roach, third Tony Delves 4-13-0.

Alvechurch Fisheries Horseshoe Pool Open was won by Richard Massey (Alvechurch) by pole fishing corn over casters down the margins of peg 42 for 57-4-0 of barbel and carp. Second Dave Williams (CSM) 41-11-0, third Richard Johns (Alvechurch) 34-0-0.

Kevin Slade (AOK) continued his good run of victories at Woodlands View with a ton up catch of 109-0-0 of big carp taken with pole, corn and meat from Deans Pool peg 25. Second Rob Gandley (Shakespeare) 98-8-0, third Paul Newman (Morgans) 97-4-0.

Moorlands Farms Middle and Moors Pools open was a close encounter and gave John Mottershead (Trentside) his second victory of the week with 60-12-0 from Moors Pool peg nine, but better was to come. Second Darren Clewley (Team Wesson) 59-13-0, third Dave Hill (Fosters MG) 48-9-0.

John Mottershead rounded off his week with a huge 135-11-0 carp catch at the evening Meadow Pool open, by pole fishing casters up in the water at peg 15. Second Lee Richards (Fosters Tipton) 109-15-0, third Chris Hill (Fosters MG) 95-12-0.

At Astwood Fisheries the Bluebell Pool open, Stoke Prior matchman Mark Roberson followed on from his mid-week win by topping the Bluebell Pool open from bonus peg 20 to collect a £470 pay day, with a pole, corn and meat catch of 21-3-0 carp net. Very close on his heels was Steve Darby (Kings Oak) with 21-1-0, third Paul Hanford (Weoley Castle WMC) 13-6-0.
