KIDDERMINSTER Carolians Rugby Club ran out 13-3 winners when they met Shrewsbury at Marlpool Lane on Saturday.

The match should have been a first round meeting in the NPI Pilkington Cup, but the visitors conceded the game to their opponents because they could not raise a strong enough side.

They agreed to bring a team for a friendly game and were trailing from the first minute when stand-off Andy McLellan landed a penalty.

There was little to chose between the two sides and there was no further score in the first half.

Within seven minutes of the restart, the visitors had drawn level with a penalty, but eventually KCs started to apply some pressure.

In the 50th minute, a good piece of play involving McLellan and skipper Adrian Taft put winger Ambro Neri in for the only try of the game. McLellan converted.

The same player kicked his second penalty six minutes later.

KCs 2nd 10 Worcester 29

Dan Quinn scored the only try for the home side, and Tom oakes landed the conversion and a penalty.

Five Ways 2nd 35 KCs 3rd 0

Five Ways rather unfairly put out their 2nd team against a very inexperienced KCs side and the scoreline tells the story.

Fixtures: Saturday - Kidderminster v Telford (Midlands West One), Telford 2nd v KCs 2nd, KCs 3rd v Telford.
