LAST weekend saw the first round of the Evesham Sunday League's Tewkesbury Sports Knockout Cup.

There was only one surprise resulted with Division Four Mountinneers defeating second division Blockley Sports with goals from Hunter (2), Diston and Churchen.

The all Division One tie at Guiting saw visitors Pebworth triumph after extra-time in a 13-goal thriller. The sides had shared ten goals in normal time before goals from Wakefield, Morys and Sprigg clinched the tie.

Favourites Bretforton VIC hit ten at Broadway Utd Res with Mitchell and Jones both hitting four, both Aldington brothers were on target as Upton Snodsbury hit Shipston Sports for six and a Sollis hat-trick helped Offenham Rovers past Bury.

Third division Willersey defeated Crown Athletic with goals from Beale and Gittus, while a Neil Allen double spared Mickleton Rangers' blushes at Salford Rovers.

Perry and Williams both hit doubles as the Workies second string overcame Ashton Res and a Basham hat-trick saw Ashton into the second round at the expense of Servicemen's.

The individual goalscoring honours of the day fell to Hill of Badsey Rec who hit six in his team's victory over Haven Harriers.

Moreton Wanderers have moved clear at the top of division one following a resounding win at much fancied Evesham WMC with goals from Balhatcher (2), Hardiman, Oxley, Cook and Winter.
