Malvern Rangers 1, Bishampton Utd 0

FOR the second week running Bishampton returned from their travels pointless, and only have themselves to blame for this defeat after missing several good chances to win the game.

Malvern were the first to get into their stride and a snapshot by Marc Schuster struck the Bishampton post.

This proved the wake up call the visitors needed and after seven minutes Bishampton almost took the lead but Greg mason's effort struck a post.

Malvern, playing down the slop,e had the better of the first half without seriously testing Rob Bille.

The all important goal arrived in the 15th minute of the second half after neither side had grabbed the initiative.

Schuster broke down the right before crossing low into the six-yard box, but two Malvern players failed to connect with the ball, which bounced eventually for a corner off a Bishampton defender.

From the resulting corner, Bille could only parry Chris Davis's header and he recovered to thump the ball home.

Bishampton now showed the urgency lacking at the start of the second half.

Ian Hall began to cause the Malvern defence problems. First he set up Tony George inside the penalty area, and then a gilt edged chance was presented to Max Woodward. Both players, however, failed to hit the target.

Bishampton were now controlling most of the play, but luck was not on their side when Carlo Longhi's shot from the edge of the area again hit a post.

Mark Onens almost snatched an equaliser but saw his glancing header bounce past the post. Malvern held firm to condemn the visitors to their second defeat in two games.
