A POLICE dog intercepted a drunken man who ran away after fighting in a street at 1am, Kidderminster magistrates heard.

Carpet worker James Crisp, 25, of Offmore Road, Kidderminster, was fined £250, with £55 costs, after he admitted threatening behaviour and damaging a parked car.

He was ordered to pay £150 compensation for the damage.

The police had been called to Baxter Avenue and found Crisp drunk and abusive, offering to fight one of the officers, said prosecutor Owen Beale.

When he was arrested he told the police he had been drinking since 4pm the previous day.

Crisp had been too drunk to remember what happened, said his solicitor, Gary Harper.

He apologised to the police and owner of the car he damaged.
