MISSING three key players, Bromsgrove Ladies' Hockey Club's First XI did well to draw 1-1 against a Redditch side who play two leagues above.
The first few minutes saw Town's defence under a lot of pressure with keeper Ange Burnet making some great saves and the defence making some excellent tackles to stop Redditch scoring.
Bromsgrove soaked up the pressure until the end of the first half when a Redditch strike took a cruel deflection from Justine Postones's stick into the back of the net.
Town battled as hard as they could after the break with smooth passing from captain Erica Bond, Nikki Bayliss and Becky Southwell.
The breakthrough came when Southwell gave a perfectly timed ball to Christine Ashworth who picked it up beautifully. She passed it into the D and after a few touches from various sticks, got hold of the ball again to sneak it past the keeper into the left corner of the net.
