FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round

Highfield Rangers 1 Studley BKL 1

THE Bees earned a deserved replay against a strong Highfield side who are champions of the Leicester Senior League and unbeaten so far this season.

Studley started strongly and could have taken a 10th minute lead when Grubb supplied Rowlands who just failed to connect from six yards.

Chances were few and far between for the remainder of the first half, with both sides content to sit back and wait for opportunities.

The second half proved more positive with Studley unlucky not to go in front - Powell, Grubb and Hands all having opportunities to put Studley into a commanding lead and the full-time whistle saw the score at 0-0.

Extra time saw the home side push forward and take the lead on 98 minutes following a goalmouth scramble when Robert Lawrence slide home from 10 yards.

Studley bounced back with Ken Fergie striking the post and Powell firing wide when well placed. Then in the final minute Fergie struck a deserved equaliser, scoring direct from a corner into a crowded goalmouth.

Studley fully deserved their replay and with better finishing could have won at the first attempt.
