WITH reference to the letter from a correspondent concerning his shabby treatment by the health service (Advertiser, August 30), could I be given space to give credit where it is due.

As with most men of my age, I began to have prostate problems, and saw my GP. Blood tests were made that day and the results given to me seven days later, thankfully negative.

My GP, being a thoroughly professional man, referred me to the urology department at the Alexander Hospital. Here I saw a specialist, who gave me a rigorous examination and arranged a biopsy, which I had the following week.

Two days after the biopsy, I received a letter from the specialist to tell me the tests were, once again, negative. My condition is now controlled by a daily tablet.

The timescale for these events is just under six weeks and during this time, I was treated at all times in a courteous and professional manner, both by my GP and the consultant at the hospital. I am very grateful to all concerned.
