POLICE in Gloucestershire say there is no immediate danger of a fuel shortage affecting their vehicles.

The force says it is trying to use supplies as wisely as it can, but says its operational commitments are not affected. It has also set up a working group of senior staff to co-ordinate all its actions and draw up contingency plans to make sure that public safety is not affected.

Officers in the north Cotswolds have reacted to road safety concerns by putting warning signs outside service stations on the Fosse Way where long queues have formed outside petrol stations in Stow and at Slaughter Pike, near Bourton.
