6 NO matter how hard we try, there will unfortunately always be some, like G Hutchinson, who wilfully ignore or misunderstand oft-published straightforward fact.
Grants from the Lotteries Fund and from local benefactor Cecil Duckworth, totalling £105,000, meant that the millennial artwork for the Quayhead Scheme was, truly, going to cost the Worcester local taxpayer virtually nothing.
In contrast, the Tories' shameful cancellation really does mean the write-off of nearly £50,000 worth of already-incurred setting-up costs - plus a larger future cost to the local tourist industry.
This is not to be confused - as appears to be the case with Mr Hutchinson - with the £400,000 worth of more mundane works to Copenhagen Street, Quay Street and South Quay which have been under way for some time and do not seem to be in contention.
