BBC Hereford & Worcester's Dave Bradley survived facing Aussie pace bowler Glenn McGrath only to fracture his knee-cap while running for a catch,
The DJ, more used to cracking jokes than bones, was playing in a testimonial match for Worcestershire's Stuart Lampitt XI against Martley.
The 52-year-old presenter was left stumped after desperately stretching for a catch during the weekend match.
"If I had been playing for Martley I wouldn't have bothered running for it," he said.
Earlier, his day had started promisingly, even knocking the Aussie star for four, before his middle stump was uprooted.
"I saw it leave his hand and heard it hit the stumps but what happened between that I don't know," he added.
Mr Bradley, who has played for Martley for 40 years, swapped with McGrath, who lives in Martley, to play for Lampitt's team.
Amazingly, he managed to bowl two overs after cracking his knee-cap but eventually collapsed in pain and had to endure a trip to casualty.
