AFTER a two-year lay-off from sporting competition, 17-year-old Ian Giddins has been enjoying success at Moorlands Farm Fishery for the last three weeks.

On Monday he won the open event on Meadow Pool with 159lb 3oz of fish, beating, among others, the venue specialist Chris Hill, and came second in the Sunday evening event with 94lb.

This followed a victory the previous Sunday with a 129lb catch anda second place a fortnight ago with 86lb for the angler who works and competes for Mal Storey Fishing Tackle.

The top angler of the week caught 15 carp on the Moat. His best was a 19.5lb mirror, and other weights varied from 2lb to 11lb, taking on floating crust and catmeat bait.

Good weights have been recorded on all coarse waters.

SHATTERFORD LAKES

Using a cats whisker on the Wyre Dell and Masters lakes a trout fisherman caught 23 rainbows to 2.5lb.

Another landed 17 to 2lb using a black gnat on the Wyre Dell, the same venue yielding 14 to 2.5lb to a coachman.

Another angler landed 10 to 1.5lb using a buzzer on the same lake.

On the coarse scene, three mirror carp to 27lb 8oz, a common of 17lb 4oz and two catfish to 24lb 8oz were taken with boilies on the Erics Lake.

A Halesowen angler landed two mirror carp to 24lb and a catfish to 21lb 4oz with meat on the Stuarts Lake, and one angler caught three common carp to 21lb and two mirrors to 19lb 4oz with boilies on the Erics.

From the Stella Lake was a catch of various carp totalling 41lb, falling to bread and Chum mixers.

Roach, perch and bream also provided good sport on this lake.

LYTTELTON AA
