IN an enjoyable game, Avoncroft went down by two wickets to Bridewell in the Worcestershire County League Division Four.
Batting first on a damp wicket, only Jon Bird (57) and Craig Southwick (33) made substantial contributions in a moderate score of 130. Julian Gaskell did most of the damage with 5-29.
Bridewell's reply began badly against an inspired Southwick as they were reduced to 39-5.
A fightback by Johnson (37) and Smith (23) steadied the ship before they squeezed home by just two wickets in the 43rd over.
Dave Aston claimed 3-29 in a fine display of seam bowling, while Southwick took 4-47.
